Approved Service - Service Description
The subject service of this Grant of Approval is the Royal Mail Identity Verification service from Royal Mail Group Limited.
The Royal Mail Identity Verification service (RMIV) enables users to prove their identity in order to access government services online. It directly aligns to the relevant parts of the UK Government’s identity assurance guidelines and is compliant with the requirements of the UK Government Verify Identity Assurance scheme.
Citizens prove their identity when registering for the RMIV Service using personal information only they will know (Identity Evidence). The processes are robust and externally assessed to meet standards required for UK and other governments, together with commercial requirements. Once registered, citizens are issued with their own unique log-in credentials which they can directly manage via the RMIV Service’s online portal.
These credentials are based on widely used standards and can be used to access many different online services, offering enhanced online protection convenience and compliance for all types of transactions users undertake using this service.
